We recently visited a transhipment company in the port for a ‘gangway check-up’. Since there is often a dangerous load during use, extra attention must be paid to the gangway, because safety must be guaranteed at all times. During such a check-up, we check welds for cracks, among other things. And we determine whether the gangway is being used correctly. Damage counts too. Where and how was the gangway damaged? And if this is the case at pivots and support points, because extra force is exerted on the structure here, we state that this is being looked at extra carefully.
After this thorough check, we draw up a report and provide the customer with appropriate advice. If there is an unsafe situation, we will solve this by repairing the gangway on location or in our workshop. If necessary, we can (often the same day) provide a temporary replacement gangway from our range.
In this way we ensure that we are able to contribute appropriately to any situation in which a maritime company may find itself. Safely continuing with all important work without wasting much time is the motto.
